GFX: How to...speed jamb.
The speed jamming process can eliminate as many as two refinishing steps by incorporating the original equipment under hood color in our jambing process. Since we're going to use our colored speed primer as a single stage topcoat under hood color, this process will resemble the original equipment appearance and durability, and can be assembled in as little as 20 minutes. Step 1. We're going to need to clean the exterior of the part with the appropriate cleaner. Incorporate a scuff pad in the cleaning process. This will speed up prep time. When using colored speed primer to jamb the new ecoated part, we no longer need to scuff the jambs just the exterior of the part. Step 2. After scuffing the exterior, re-clean the entire part with a clean cloth and the appropriate cleaner. Note: On vehicles with under hood colors, use under hood color selector deck or FormulaExpress to select the appropriate underhood color of the speed primer. Step 3. Apply 1 wet coat of speed P27 or speed P30 to the entire exterior of the panel. Immediately apply a second coat covering both the jamb area and the exterior of the panel. This will result in two coats on the exterior of the panel and one coat in the jamb area. Step 4. Applying the proper base coat color to the edge and cut in area followed by one of our three optional topcoat systems.
GFX: Topcoat System Option 1 16 Ultra 7000 Basecoat:16 RHF Reducer:1 UH904 Hardener
Option 1, utilize a solvent basecoat system incorporating hardener in the basecoat. This will not be clearcoat.
GFX: Topcoat System Option 2 1 Ultra 7000 Basecoat:1 RHF Reducer Then apply Ultra 7000 Clearcoat
Option 2, utilize a basecoat/clearcoat system incorporating clearcoat will be applied over the entire basecoated area.
Option 3, use our AWX Performance Plus Waterborne underhood single stage system. This will incorporate hardener into the basecoat and eliminates the clearcoat step.
GFX: Continue the repair by installing the part on the vehicle. The exterior of the installed part should then be sanded with P600 or finer sandpaper, prior to topcoating.
GFX: Apply base coat until proper coverage is achieved, then follow with a finesse coat to even out metallics or pearls. Finish by applying a premium clearcoat to complete the refinish process.
