[MUSIC PLAYING] SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
[MARC HOLBURY] I am Marc Holbury at Sherwin-Williams. Today we are going to be mixing Coat 46V on a Mazda that requires this very unique toner, U9126 translucent maroon. It was developed specifically for the clean, vibrant red three stages on these newer vehicles. 1:10-30% MIX RATIO In preparing a step down panel, what I've done here is attached three metal spray out cards to a stick, I've applied one wet coat of premium urethane primer-sealer on top of it, I'll come back, apply the ground coat, as it's stated in the best demonstrated practices. I'll let that flash out. I'll come back, apply a midcoat to all the cards. I'll remove a card, spray another coat of midcoat, I'll remove a second card, spray a third coat of midcoat. So what I've done here, I've numbered each individual card with the amount of midcoat on each card showing one coat, two coats, three coats, I'm gonna apply two coats of the CC250 premium clearcoat on top of it. After you've determined the proper amount of midcoat from your step down panel, we're going to go in the booth and clean the panel with surface cleaner. For the next step, we're going to apply one wet coat of ultra premium undercoat sealer. After the Ultra premium undercoat sealer is flashed off properly, we're going to apply the red metallic groundcoat. First we're going to apply a tack coat. Then we're going to come back to spray one full wet coat and then a 75 percent wet coat directly after that. To achieve blending and proper color match, we're going to apply a final cross coat slightly lighter than the previous coat. The next step, we're going to be applying the mid coat using a cross coat technique, that we did previously on the ground coat. We'll be applying two to three coats of midcoat. 1:10-30% MIX RATIO So after your first coat of midcoat has flashed off properly, we're going to come back to the other direction and complete the cross coat technique. That'll help get rid of the blackness and fill in all the voids in the red midcoat. After the midcoat is flashed off properly, using the cross coat technique, we're going to apply two coats of the CC250 premium clearcoat. In memoriam - Marc Holbury. November 28, 1963 to April 6, 2021. Marc Holbury unexpectedly passed away as we were producing this video. To say we are devastated by his passing is an understatement. We're heartbroken. Marc was a beloved member of the Sherwin-Williams family. He leaves behind a legacy in the automotive finishes division of the Sherwin-Williams company where he devoted his time training our teams and our customers in the proper application of our coatings. He was an exceptional teacher. He was an exceptional co-worker. He was an exceptional friend. Marc will forever live on in our hearts, in our minds and in our booths and the booths of our customers. Gone, but never forgotten.
