GFX: Why have paint companies ignored the helicopter coatings market?

Helicopters themselves are hard to do when there's not a lot of shops that repaint helicopters. That's one reason, but also just the sheer volume. If you can go paint a plane where you're going to have 50 or 60 gallons as opposed to a helicopter that are only maybe five to six your volume pricing is going to be at that plane.
GFX: Are helicopters typically painted in specialized shops?
Helicopter, too, takes a lot of time because you have to take it apart and put it back together. So a lot of people that are used to doing a plane, they find that the helicopter takes longer and it kind of disrupts their flow in the paint shop.
GFX: Why is Sherwin-Williams' SKYscapes GA perfect for the helicopter market?
We've been in the general aviation aerospace market for quite a while. And helicopters kind of translate that well into that market. We have a project right now. It's Skyscapes G.A. that you can dry very quickly. You can dry a tape on it and 60 to 90 minute. And if you put heat on it it can be done in 30 minutes. So we're talking about painting a helicopter which all the parts that are off and then some of them have been like some little crevices and you have to open some door panels to get in there, dry time is very important. We also provide training. If you've never painted one before we can have a tech help out there for you. It's extremely easy to spray. And it comes in Micas in all it's colors.
