The W15 represents the Formula 1 team’s newest car design, building and improving on the previous W14 driven in 2023. It was also important to the team that the chosen colors come across in real life and on camera, which can make colors appear lighter or darker depending on lighting and screens. Ultra 9K helps achieve the desired stability and vibrancy across mediums.

“Key benefits of the Sherwin-Williams 9K include great base coat coverage with minimum weight gain,” says Andrew Moody, Head of the Paint and Graphics Department for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team.

This latest car iteration includes a new chassis and gearbox casing. With the W15, the F1 team focused on efficiency and finding more downforce with less drag. Specifically, the team focused on improving rear axle performance and the aerodynamics of the underside floor.
