  Color-Express-Program-and-Corob-Instructional-Video Transcript GFX: Sherwin-Williams Corob Tint Machine & Color Express Overview with Darby Adams and Derek Messmer Darby Adams [00:00:07] Hi, I'm Darby Adams, a sales leadership program participant in the Performance Coatings Group. Derek Messmer [00:00:12] And I'm Derek Messmer, Industrial Wood representative for the Sherwin-Williams company. Darby Adams [00:00:16] And we're here today to demonstrate the use of the Corob machine as well as explain the value that the Color Express program can provide to your existing and potential customers. [00:00:23] Color Express was first introduced to gain market share of our small to medium customers. The program's motto is simple: shoot it, shake it and ship it. In these three steps, we can continuously service our customers with precision and satisfaction without putting a strain on production. Derek will now demonstrate the steps of fulfilling an order using the Corob machine. The tinting process begins with the customer placing an order at the facility. The team member then uses the Aurora program to identify which formula the customer needs, as well as other valuable information to determine the product use and pricing. Once the order is entered into the system, Derek selects the correct gallon of paint off the shelf and marks it off on the inventory spreadsheet. This ensures accurate inventory numbers at the facility. Derek then logs into Aurora using his credentials and searchs the Sherwen color I.D. number that is clearly printed on the order. When he identifies the correct formula based on product and sheen, he clicks 'make batch'. The final screen in Aurora requests information about the size of the container and how many containers need to be tinted. He then places the open paint can under the machine and clicks send to dispenser. The Corob tint basic program opens and he then clicks tint. A box pops up verifying the quantity and then he clicks dispense. The machine immediately dispenses the exact amount of colorant in the formula and the number of cans changes to zero once the process is complete. He returns to the Aurora program to print the label with the color name. Finally, Derek re-attaches the lid and places the tinted paint can into the shaker for two to three minutes. Once the paint is mixed, it is packaged and shipped to the customer. Darby Adams [00:02:08] Thank you for that demonstration Derek. Now, I'd just like to ask you a couple of questions about the value of the program. [00:02:13] So can you tell us a little bit about any improvements you've seen within the facility since the integration of the Color Express program? Derek Messmer [00:02:20] First and foremost, my blends are getting done much quicker because we are turning them around in less than 24 hours if they go in on the Corob machine, which also allows the rest of the blends for the facility to get done in a timely fashion and under one to two days right now. So overall, the process has become a lot more efficient for the facility. Darby Adams [00:02:38] So how have you been able to leverage this program and bringing it to your wood customers? Derek Messmer [00:02:42] When I go to see the customers, I explain that this will actually be more efficient for their company because we'll be able to get the process, if they order before noon, we'll be able to get the gallons out by the next day, which allows them to be more efficient and productive. Also, when I go out there, I show them the color reader pro, which they are able to scan their colors, call those colors in and again, we can usually turn that around within 24 to 48 hours. So when we explain that to the customer, they're very happy that we're being effective and actually giving, caring about their business. Darby Adams [00:03:15] Great. So speaking of those happy customers, do you have any success stories you could tell us about? Derek Messmer [00:03:19] Yeah. One customer I was chasing for two years, CA Miller. And I was struggling because they were looking for a more effective way to get their paints. A lot of times customers call them in at the last second and then they have to wait the two to three days. Well now this allows them to be more productive. When I introduced it to them, they were actually able to order that paint, get it the next day and move forward without having to wait and have a standstill at their facility. Darby Adams [00:03:46] Fantastic. Continuing on that value, do you have any recommendations for other Industrial Wood sales representatives who are looking to implement this program within their territory? Derek Messmer [00:03:54] Absolutely. What I would tell them is get the paint out of the bucket, understand it, learn it, learn the Corob system, learn Aurora, learn the whole process. The more you can understand that, the more you can explain to the customers, the more that they're going to believe in the process. And if you can go in there and do a demo and show them this material and then tell them that it's only 24 to 48 hours to get their paint, it's a no brainer. It'll sell itself.
