Christina: [00:00:01] Joining me now is Nick Bartoszek from Sherwin-Williams. Nick thank you so much for joining me.

Nick: [00:00:04] Thanks for having me. Glad to be here.
Christina: [00:00:06] I want to talk to you about coding Sherwin-Williams has a proven track record of bringing breakthrough coatings to the industry including the formaldehyde free finish. Can you talk about the evolution of that product.
GFX: Nick Bartoszek Sherwin-Williams
Nick: [00:00:16] Sure. Sherwin-Williams is one of the very first companies to bring out formaldehyde free coatings. We started with our conversion varnish in 2011 and also followed that up with a series of primer sealers and pre cat lackers in both pigmented and clears. And what we're really excited about is the new technology we have coming up in formaldehyde free called Sherw-wood Guardian coatings. And this is a new chemical reaction. The great thing about the system is it forms a polyurethane like finish which is super super durable but it dries really fast has long pot life is got extreme durability and chemical resistance is very user friendly and it dries with just great uniform gloss and is just really really nice. The best thing about the coating is it's isosinate free and formaldehyde free.
Christina: [00:01:07] Can you talk about some of the other coatings that Sherwin-Williams is working on?
Nick: [00:01:10] Sure. Right now we're working on a lot of waterborne coatings and a lot of new technologies and we're able to develop color fast so the waterborne coatings we're working on one 1k coatings as well as two 2k coatings which improve the performance that spray dry ability adaptability and high humidity temperature so it makes it easier for the customers to adapt it to their line in their environment. And then on the color side of it our customers are seeing that their customers want a lot of color changes so they want custom colors they want them fast. So we're working on new technology to put into our color Express Line which enables our facilities and our customers to be able to tempt colors fast right on the fly so they get that just in time delivery for their products that they need and they're able to customize really quick without ordering a lot of material. So it lowers their inventory cost and also improves their ability to deliver faster to their customers which means they can sell more.
Christina: [00:02:10] What's driving Sherwin-Williams to develop these types of coatings?
Nick: [00:02:15] What we try and do is we try and stay ahead of where the regulatory trends are going but also try and look at health and safety concerns that the employees may have or the consumers themselves. So you take a look at the formaldehyde free technology that we're building and developing we're actually working on that because there legislation going into effect through the EPA and Canada's CEPA basically what we're trying to do is make it safer for consumers to have these goods in their home. And try and make a better better product for our customers to deliver to their customers.
