Sherwin-Williams FIRETEX FX5090 is a passive intumescent fire protection solution that addresses this challenge. This water-based, thin-film coating has an extremely smooth, paint-like finish that allows architects to fully expose steel as part of aesthetic design, while providing life-saving protection for structures and people at the same time.

FIRETEX FX5090 is a water-based intumescent fire protective coating designed to have a more aesthetically pleasing finish than other methods of fireproofing. It is designed to be applied to exterior and interior steel structures, in accordance to UL 263, UL CDXA and UL CDYD. FIRETEX FX5090 provides an extremely smooth, aesthetically pleasing finish with up to two-hour fire rating for cellulosic fires.
