Many of today’s fire protection solutions for structural steel feature less than an appealing finish. While this deficiency can be remedied by simply covering the coated steel with drywall, such workaround fixes limit the design options of the structure. 

Sherwin-Williams FIRETEX FX5120 is a passive fire protection material that delivers both high performance and appearance. This easy-to-apply, water-based, thin-film coating has an extremely smooth, paint-like finish that helps achieve attractive design on exposed steel in building interiors. The solution is certified for up to two hours of protection in cellulosic fires.

FIRETEX FX5120 is a water-based intumescent fire protective coating designed to have a more aesthetically pleasing finish than other methods of fireproofing. It is designed to be applied to interior steel structures, in accordance to UL 263, for up to a 2 hour rating for a cellulosic fire.
