Features & Benefits
FIRETEX® FX7002 intumescent coating is used to enhance the fire resistance of structural steel members by providing a layer of insulation, which is formed as a result of a chemical reaction initiated by fire. This insulation reduces the rate of heat transfer and extends the time period for which the structural member can resist the weakening effects of the heat.
Application Time Savings
- Single-component application – only standard suction feed airless spray equipment required
- Broader on-site application window with ability to spray in cooler and more humid conditions
- Suitable for shop or on-site application
Cost Effectiveness
- High wet film build properties that can reduce the number of coats required and overall project costs
- Provides up to two hours of fire protection on interior and exposed structural steel substrates with competitive dry film thickness (DFT) required
Tested and Certified Protection
- ANSI/UL 263 and CAN/ULC-S101-certified for up to two hours of protection
- Among the industry’s broadest range of approved beam listings for a solvent-based fire protection coating – delivering more freedom to building owners and designers
- Passed a wide variety of tests on restrained and unrestrained beams
Extended Life of Assets
- Superior protection from both fire and corrosion compared to cementitious and single-component acrylics
- Lowest lifecycle cost option
- High-performance corrosion and fire protection in a wide range of environments
