A mil is one thousandth of an inch — .001 inch. It is a typical manufacturing dimension. We specify the thickness of our floors as mils or inches. This quick guide shares common conversions for mils to inches and mils per square feet/gallon.

Note: Coverage for 100% Solids Systems. If material contains solvent, thickness will be reduced by the same % as the solvent loss.

Mils per Inch

• 1 inch = 1,000 mils 
• 1/2 inch = 500 mils 
• 1/4 inch = 250 mils 
• 1/8 inch = 125 mils 
• 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils 
• 1/32 inch = 31 mils

Mils per SF/Gallon

• 50 SF/gal = 30 mils 
• 80 SF/gal = 20 mils 
• 100 SF/gal = 16 mils 
• 200 SF/gal = 8 mils 
• 300 SF/gal = 5 mils 
• 600 SF/gal = 2.5 mils
