Providing coatings that emit lower VOCs that can still perform in the field has been a challenge for the coatings industry. As a result, Sherwin-Williams developed the DuraPeak platform. A family of products with extremely high solids by weight, DuraPeak cures faster, and at lower temperatures, and emits lower VOCs than comparable 2K urethane systems. It is formulated to deliver the utmost in rapid cycle time and urethane-like finish quality. Applicators need to improve their cycle times while reducing their energy usage. Traditional powder coating processes require the primer to be cured before the topcoat is applied. Our technical team knew there was a way to provide a coating that could reduce both energy usage and improve finishing throughput. The result is the patented Powdura OneCure powder coating system. This innovative single-cure primer and topcoat system co-reacts and cross-links without the need to cure the primer. This eliminates a step in the coating process providing applicators with both time and energy savings while continuing to receive the protection they demand from powder coatings.
