Fire Protection for Baku's Flame Towers

Sherwin-Williams protects the trio of towers using FIRETEX FX water-based range

The towers are 190 m (650 ft) tall and at the time of construction were the tallest buildings in Baku, the estimated investment cost was at £210 m ($350 m). Located on a hill overlooking Baku bay, with this iconic trio of buildings, consisting of three flame shaped towers each has a different function.

To the South the tallest of the three towers is a 39 Story residential tower, to the North a hotel is located with 318 rooms over 36 floors and to the west is the office tower with 33,000 m2 of class A commercial office space.

Baku Flame Towers is a project by Azinko Development MMC. HOK was the architect, with DIA Holdings serving as design-build contractor and Hill International providing project management.

The system selected for the Flame Towers “Flicks” each flick being the towers’ last 22 to 26m of steel structure comprised of FIRETEX FX5120 to give a two hour fire protection rating and a durable topcoat of Acrolon C237 which has excellent colour and gloss retention properties.
