GFX: Reducing downtime of assets The biggest trend we are seeing in the marine industry is a focus on reducing downtime of assets. Our customers are looking for improved service life of vessels and less frequent maintenance. Taking a vessel out of service is a time consuming and expensive process. So when vessels do need maintenance owners are seeking ways to avoid a complete recoating of their assets. GFX: Increased VOC regulations However, choosing a coating solution has become more challenging due to increased regulation on coating formulations and acceptable levels of volatile organic compounds. This is a complicated process that was once as simple as choosing the coating that provided the best protection or required the least amount of application coats. GFX: Single coat, fast return to service liners To solve these challenges, Sherwin-Williams offers customers single coat and fast returns to service liners that allow vessels to return to full service soon after coating. In addition to providing significant application efficiencies were continue to develop the next generation of high solids and 100 percent solids epoxies with low or no solvents to reduce the release of VOCs.
