[MUSIC PLAYING] SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
[NARRATOR] Using our Ultra 7000 solvent refinish system, we're going to show you the proper technique for blend area refinishing. First, all bodywork must be finished with P180 grit sand paper. Feather edge the repair with P220 grit DA paper, followed by P320. Extend the sanded area around the repair with P400 paper to accommodate the application of primer. Clean the area with the appropriate Sherwin-Williams cleaner, and sand the blend areas with P800, thoroughly scuffing the unsanded areas using a grey scuff pad, along with ultra system USP90 Liquid Scuffing Gel. Thoroughly rinse off any sanding residue and scuffing gel with clean water and dry the surface. You may need to clean the area several times. Treat any large areas of bare metal with ultra systems PE995 Premium Corrosion Shield LCF Etching Primer. or E2G970 Corrosion Shield LCF Wash Primer. Apply 2-3 coats of Ultra System P30 SpectraPrime Primer Surfacer Sealer. P30 is a premium quality 2K urethane that delivers best-in-class gloss holdout resistance to film shrinkage and easy sanding. Do not apply Primer Surfacer beyond P400 sand scratches. And allow P30 to flash for five to ten minutes between coats. Then apply a dry guide coat, finish sand using a DA with P600 grit paper, apply one medium wet coat of Ultra System 2K Transparent Basecoat S66, mixed 1:1 with one of the Ultra System RHF reducers. It is highly recommended that S66 is used on high metallic or mica-containing colors. Next, apply the basecoat. Reduce the basecoat 1:1 with RHF reducer. Apply 2-3 medium coats, or until hiding is achieved. Allow each coat to flash to a dull, uniform appearance. Note: a low pressure mist, or dropcoat must be used to even out high metallic or mica-containing colors. And for blending. Allow the basecoat to flash ten to twenty minutes or until a dull uniform finish is achieved. Then, apply an Ultra System clearcoat.
