Powdura® Powder Coatings & Selection Tools Enhance Architectural Building Products

With a long-standing history in the market, Sherwin-Williams offers robust liquid and powder product portfolio, unmatched service and support and value-added tools for fabricators, architects and specifiers.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – June 10, 2019 – Sherwin-Williams is enhancing their product offering for the architectural building products market with the recent launch of Powdura® 4000 Anodite powder coatings, and the introduction of a series of Powdura product selection tools. Manufacturers of windows, doors, stairwells, handrails, wall panels, benches, lighting and other high-traffic areas have been partnering with the paint and coatings company for decades – utilizing their broad product offering that meets complete AAMA performance standards for coatings.

The new Powdura 4000 Anodite powder coatings are a collection of colors designed to look like anodized metal surfaces, while delivering a smooth, ultra-matte, powder-coated finish and are available as part of a 12-color preferred collection. With a range of attractive shades, this system has built-in, super durable TGIC-free technology for long-term resistance against the weather. Designers can create their ideal anodized look with a coating that has been specially engineered to last.

“The use of mica pigments mimics anodized finishes without the potential problems of anodizing,” said Cathy Tarkey, Building Products Market Segment Manager. “Providing an anodized look in a one-coat application, Powdura 4000 Anodite powder coatings give you the benefit of consistent colors, reduced process times, and improved weatherability over anodized metals.”

Powdura 4000 Anodite coatings can be repaired, applied to more than aluminum, and have greater color consistency between parts. They can also be applied in one coat – with no clearcoat.

Meeting AAMA 2604 specifications, Powdura 4000 Anodite is the latest extension of the Powdura line of high-performance architectural powder coatings, including AAMA 2604 certified Powdura 4000 and AAMA 2605 certified Powdura® 5000 products.

“Our goal is to provide multi-generational product platforms based on our years of continued product improvement for both performance and application,” concluded Tarkey. “Our AAMA Powdura solutions are consistently easy-to-use, meet color tolerances and hide well. Most formulas can be recoated, if needed, and reclaimed.”

Formulated to provide substantial resistance to abrasion, impacts, scuffing and scratching, Powdura 4000 coatings deliver a superb finish and long-term durability. This proven technology withstands the harsh elements from UV rays to high heat and humidity.

Durability and weather resistance are non-negotiable when specifying powder coatings on metal building products. That’s why Powdura 5000 coatings are formulated to provide a durable finish with outstanding UV.

Our goal is to provide multi-generational product platforms based on our years of continued product improvement for both performance and application. Our AAMA Powdura solutions are consistently easy-to-use, meet color tolerances and hide well. Most formulas can be recoated, if needed, and reclaimed.
