Kristina: [00:00:00] Joining me now is Nick Bartoszek from Sherwin Williams. Now Nick I understand that Sherwin Williams has placed a new emphasis on color. Can you talk to me a little bit more about that.
Nick: [00:00:09] Yeah. What we've done is we've launched a brand new program called Color Express and the premise of the program is that we've taken tightly controlled bases combine them with tightly controlled color units and put them into this great accurate geared driven dispensing unit and combine that with software where customers are able to use the entire Sherwin-Williams color palette that you see here behind you and be able to select color from that. And in just a matter of minutes they're able to produce color very quickly very accurate accurately and repeatable. So we're finding that more and more customers are looking for custom colors very quickly and they're expanding that color palette and allowing the kitchen cabinet and furniture consumers to be able to customize their looks.
Kristina: [00:00:54] Talk a little bit more about this color palette behind me. You know how does it help customers.
Nick: [00:00:59] Well what helps the customers is the fact that they can choose from any one of the over 4000 Sherwin-Williams stores and they're able to use this color palette and they could basically pick any color in the spectrum and we've got reformulated colors that are driven to match and be repeatable so the customers our customers manufacturers that use those are able to repeat the same colors over and over but they're able to use this entire color deck to expand their color palette. So if they've got a kitchen that's mainly white and they want to add an accent cabinet to it they're able to choose like a navy blue out of that color palette and really helps them be able to customize drill that down make a small amount of paint that cabinet and put in that nice accent that really makes the kitchen pop.
Kristina: [00:01:43] What about how color express helps deliver the custom colors quickly.
Nick: [00:01:46] Sure. So. Like I said like I mentioned before we've got all of these colors pre formulated in there driven down to a very very tight tolerance. So the machine actually works where we're able to retrieve the formula on the computer. The customer selects one of these colors. They pick it punch that number in the computer. It pulls up the formula that automatically transfers that to the machine. You put the gallon underneath and it dispenses it right in and we make the same color over and over.
Kristina: [00:02:14] That sounds great. What other advantages as this give to a wood products manufacturer.
Nick: [00:02:18] Well one of the key advantages is the fact that we're able to limit the amount of inventory that our customers have to have and we're also able to shorten up the lead time so they don't have to keep a lot of inventory on hand. They don't have to worry about a lot of waste. They don't have to worry about a lot of excess dollars being spent stocking material where they're either able to have this unit onsite in their factory or we can make the product for them and get it to almost the same days. We can really shorten up the lead time because typically in the past, batches have been made 15 20 gallons at a time. That's usually the minimum batch. So now we're able to shrink that down to just one single gallon. So that really helps, streamline that process.
Kristina: [00:02:59] Well thank you so much for joining me Nick. I'm Kristina Jensen for IWM TV.
