Sherwin-Williams Resuflor Deco Quartz TG46 floor systems are easily maintained due to their tough finish and absence of grout joints and seams. Floors do, however, take the most abuse of any surface in the building and therefore require regular maintenance. Prior to initiation of maintenance procedures, make sure the floor has had adequate time to cure (7-day cure before wet cleaning).

Care should be taken during initial project cleanup to remove construction dust and debris. Sharp objects should be picked up by hand rather than pushed across the floor to avoid scratching. To remove construction dust and debris, sweep using a yarn-wick brush treated with a non-oily sweeping compound. When the majority of the construction dust has been removed, the floor should be damp mopped or cleaned with a soft blue brush with a mild detergent cleaner, rinsed with clear water and vacuumed. Repeat the process until the floor is completely cleaned. Keep rinse water, mops and pails clean to avoid redeposition of dirt back onto the floor.

Several topcoat options exist for Resuflor Deco Quartz TG46 floors. For floors with a satin or low-sheen topcoat, no maintenance finishes should be applied (this will result in a gloss finish). When high gloss finish coats are selected, an ADA-compliant maintenance finish may be applied but it is not necessary in most cases.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Dust and fine dirt pickup can be accomplished using a yarn-wick brush treated with a non-oily sweeping compound as needed. When mopping of the floor becomes necessary, a warm water and mild detergent solution will remove most of the dirt. Scrubbing is required when the surface becomes very soiled. Use a bristled brush or a bristle attachment on a power scrubber (not a nylon pad) using a detergent solution to dislodge the dirt. The type of detergent will depend on the degree and type of build-up on the floor surface. Use an all-purpose cleaner for areas exposed to light traffic dirt. Extremely heavy-duty soils, oil, grease and rubber marks, etc., may be removed using a cleaner/degreaser. After scrubbing, the floor should be rinsed and vacuumed to prevent the dirt from resettling on the floor.

Caution: Some cleaners will affect the color, gloss or texture of your polymer floor surfaces. To determine how your cleaner will perform, we recommend that you first test each cleaner in a small area, utilizing your cleaning technique. This precaution will demonstrate the effectiveness of your cleaner and technique. If no deleterious effects are observed, continue with the procedure. If deleterious effects do occur, modify the cleaning material and/or procedure.

Most epoxy and urethane finish coats will provide years of low maintenance service. If the floor becomes difficult to clean, re-application of the topcoat may be necessary. Consult our technical service team or your flooring installer for specific recommendations.
