Two-Coat Polyaspartic Urethane Coatings Protect Virginia Steel Bridges for over a Decade

Sherwin-Williams contributes to comparative performance rating of two-coat polyaspartic urethane (PAS) coating systems.

Two-coat polyaspartic urethane (PAS) coating systems had something to prove when it came to steel bridge corrosion protection. For years, bridge coating technology specified the use of a three-coat system. PAS, however, increases paint productivity and reduces costs, creating an advantage to three-coat systems. Mark Hudson, Sherwin-Williams Project Development Manager for Bridge & Highway, was one of three NACE International-certified Coating Inspectors chosen to rate the comparative performances of both coating systems for 37 bridges in Virginia after 10 years of service.
