Jerimy Erickson [00:00:11] One of the biggest trends in the industry right now for raw materials, and actually for paint products in general, is environmental sustainability.

At Sherwin we develop products that are lower and lower in VOC for our customers. Maybe we started out at five point zero pounds per gallon VOC. Now we're at three point zero pounds per gallon VOC. And that's taken over the last probably 10 years.

But recently, our customers and the regions have wanted significant change. So there's a big trend to move to water based technology, which would almost virtually eliminate VOC or drastically reduce VOC. Also, there's trends at looking at other ways to impact the environment.

For example, we have coatings now that drastically reduce the time in oven. Some of our coatings even eliminate ovens completely, so the customers are saving on gas and saving on carbon footprint in that way. We have products that use recycled PET or recycled water bottles actually in their powder coatings. So it's taking recycled bottles out of the trash in the waste cycle for additional carbon footprint savings and environmental savings.

And also, we look for raw materials and products, really, that either extend our ability to our customers. So for better weathering, for better corrosion resistance, for better performance, for their end customers. And also coatings that help improve their efficiencies in their factories.
