Dura-Sub™ C1230: Raising the bar for subsea protection
Sherwin-Williams adds new features to Dura-Sub subsea equipment coating solution to set new industry benchmark for performance
BOLTON, UK - Sherwin-Williams has announced that Dura-Sub™ C1230, a subsea equipment coating engineered for unmatched performance in the world’s toughest marine environments, is now available with enhanced application features.
Designed specifically for equipment operating in immersed and subsea environments, Dura Sub™ C1230 sets a new industry benchmark for performance, application efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
Available in a variety of colours including Subsea yellow, it meets all NORSOK M-501 Rev 7 System 7B/7C requirements for immersed steel a service temperature from ambient all the way up to the highest maximum steel operating temperature on the market, at 200°C, making it the ultimate choice for critical subsea assets.
Key Advantages:
- Market-leading heat tolerance: Up to 200°C maximum steel operating temperature.
- Solvent-free, low VOC: Unique in the market, reducing environmental impact and making it safer for applicators.
- Proven corrosion performance: Additional ISO 12944 CX testing with good corrosion performance.
- Superior application efficiency: C1230 can be applied as a two-coat system with two applications of 175 microns dry film thickness (DFT), compared to competitors’ three-coat approach, with no cracking at higher DFTs and faster overcoating intervals.
- Reduced downtime: Solvent-free chemistry enables quicker drying between coats.
Dura-Sub C1230 is part of the Sherwin-Williams subsea coatings range. From liquid and powder coatings to maintenance and repair (MRO) solutions for pipelines, splash zones, and partially submerged structures, it offers a complete subsea protection package.
Neil Wilds, Global Product Director of CUI and Testing for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine, said:
"Extreme subsea environments allow no margin for error against aggressive corrosive conditions and elevated operating temperatures. Assets placed deep on the seafloor demand a high level of protection and performance.
“The Dura-Sub range, which includes C1230, can help protect against expensive, business interrupting failure. Together with our powder and MRO coatings for equipment in undersea pipelines and partially submerged areas such as splash zones, the range is a one-stop shop for maximum corrosion protection, even at a high-operating temperatures, in extreme subsea environments.”
