The Challenge: Creating a Durable, Safe, High-Impact Brewery Floor

Barnsley Brewery required a flooring system that could withstand extreme impact, heavy forklift traffic and regular chemical exposure. Brewery operations involving the movement of metal kegs, storage vessels and other heavy equipment placed considerable stress on the existing floors, which risked damage and safety concerns. A long-lasting, resilient solution was needed that would maintain hygiene and provide a safe working environment in both wet and dry conditions.

The Solution: Installing Polyurethane Screed Flooring Tailored for Brewery Operations

FasTop TG69 was selected for its durability, chemical resistance and suitability for heavy-duty operations. Its exceptional compressive strength and impact resistance make it ideal for areas subjected to constant forklift use and repeated metal keg impact. The system delivers a long-term solution designed to withstand the daily rigours of a working brewery.

The flooring also provides excellent anti-slip performance. Its unique textured surface ensures safe working conditions in areas where floors may be wet or dry. FasTop TG69 can be laid to falls and incorporate drainage channels, controlling the flow of washdowns and making cleaning more efficient.

For this project, Kingfisher Blue was chosen to enhance the visual appeal of the production area. In addition, Sherwin-Williams supplied hygienic wall coating systems such as the AquArmor Wall Gloss, using Resuseal Wall Gloss and Resupen WB Wall for a tough, UV-stable finish. A fibreglass reinforced resin wall system, Ecuclad, was also installed to provide a durable, hygienic cladded wall finish.

The installation of FasTop TG69 delivered a hard-wearing, chemical-resistant, anti-slip floor capable of handling constant forklift traffic, repeated metal keg impact and demanding washdown routines. Its compressive strength and textured surface support a safer working environment while maintaining durability in wet and dry conditions. Combined with hygienic wall coatings and cladded systems, the production space now benefits from enhanced cleanliness, safety and long-term resilience.
