B32 Theater

An Icon of Contemporary Architecture Combining Design, Sustainability, Construction Precision, and Performance

From architectural concept to façade installation, B32 Theater combines design, engineering, and construction precision in a highly complex solution, featuring ProjetoAlumínio® ACM with Sherwin-Williams® Fluropon® coating technology, helping transform the development into one of the landmarks of contemporary Brazilian architecture.

Located on Faria Lima Avenue in São Paulo, B32 Theater has become one of the leading landmarks of contemporary Brazilian architecture. Part of the B32 complex, the building goes beyond its cultural function, representing a new way of integrating architecture, engineering, sustainability, and innovation into a single project.

Designed by architect Eiji Hayakawa the theater complements the corporate tower and the iconic "Whale" sculpture, creating an architectural ensemble that has become a reference point in São Paulo’s urban landscape. Its visual identity is defined by an impressive façade composed of 4.5 kilometers of horizontal ACM fins measuring 600 mm x 100 mm, developed with different curvature radii to provide movement and lightness to the building. In total, approximately 7,500 m² of ACM were used on the theater façade.

To meet the project's demanding performance, finish, and precision requirements, 4 mm ProjetoAlumínio® ACM was specified in Fluropon® Silver White Metallic 9006 (PRO 9006 Silver Metallic), featuring Sherwin-Williams® high-performance coating. The combination of the panel and coating system helped meet the aesthetic, durability, and performance requirements of this highly complex project.

The unique geometry of the fins required the development of a fully customized solution. Beyond material specification, the integration between manufacturers, designers, and installers was essential to successfully execute the architectural vision.

According to José Sabioni de Lima, Commercial Director of Itefal, the company responsible for installing the façade, the technical support provided by ProjetoAlumínio® was one of the key factors behind the project's success:

"The theater of the Birmann 32 development on Faria Lima Avenue in São Paulo is a unique project by architect Eiji Hayakawa and complements the tower and the Whale. The identity of this landmark lies in its façade: 4.5 kilometers of horizontal fins measuring 600 mm x 100 mm, with multiple radii, requiring the development of a customized solution, with ACM selected as the ideal option.

In addition to providing fundamental solutions for structural design and execution interfaces with the partner company, ProjetoAlumínio's support and service were decisive to the success of this masterpiece."

The installation of the fins required a high level of engineering expertise and the development of specific processes. To address the project's unique characteristics, ARQTEC developed exclusive tools and solutions for manufacturing the internal support structure, enabling the execution of a system that combines lightness, strength, and precision.

Throughout the project, the performance of ProjetoAlumínio® ACM, combined with Sherwin-Williams® Fluropon® coating, helped ensure a level of finish consistent with the project's high architectural standards.

"B32 Theater is an iconic project that brought together distinctive architecture, high execution complexity, and exceptional finishing standards. For ARQTEC, participating in this project represented an opportunity to apply our technical expertise in an installation that required precision at every stage.

For the ACM fins, our technical and manufacturing teams developed specific tools and solutions for the fabrication of the internal mounting structure. This work enabled the execution of a modern system that combines lightness, strength, and precision, meeting the project's unique architectural requirements.

ProjetoAlumínio® ACM, featuring Sherwin-Williams® coating technology, performed exceptionally well during machining and installation, providing ease of handling, consistency, and superior finish quality. These characteristics were essential for executing the design details and achieving a sophisticated, high-end result.

Challenges related to architectural forms, component precision, and alignment during installation were overcome through planning, the technical capabilities of our teams, and the quality of the materials used. The result reflects the integration of design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, and technology. For ARQTEC, it is a source of great pride to have contributed to this project," stated Rodrigo Navarro dos Santos, Commercial Director of ARQTEC.

Long-Term Performance and Sustainability

B32 Theater is part of one of the most sustainable developments in Brazil. The complex was designed to operate with high energy efficiency, water reuse systems, wastewater treatment, and solutions aimed at reducing environmental impacts, earning LEED Platinum certification, one of the most prestigious international recognitions for sustainable buildings.

In this context, the specification of materials plays an important role in the building's environmental performance and long-term durability.

ProjetoAlumínio® ACM is 100% recyclable and manufactured with 80% recycled raw material as part of a circular economy process. Every month, approximately 11 million beverage cans and 55 million post-consumer plastic bags are transformed into new ACM panels, reducing the extraction of natural resources and contributing to a more sustainable production chain.

Complementing the sustainable attributes of ProjetoAlumínio® ACM, Sherwin-Williams® Fluropon® coating helps protect the façade by providing weather resistance, color stability, and protection against degradation caused by UV radiation. This durability helps preserve the building's appearance over time and may reduce the need for frequent maintenance interventions.

Iconic projects require materials capable of combining technical performance, aesthetic quality, and longevity.

At B32 Theater, Brazilian-made ProjetoAlumínio® ACM, combined with Sherwin-Williams® Fluropon® coating technology, contributed to a façade solution capable of meeting the demanding requirements for strength, durability, versatility, and finish expected in contemporary architecture. The result is a solution developed to deliver long-term durability, aesthetic consistency, and performance.
