Doris Reed Elementary
Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Doris Reed Elementary was feeling the effects of a population boom and needed new classrooms, fast. Metal wall panels finished with Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings gave designers creative flexibility by combining bold visual effects with easy, cost-effective installation. Since its original 1987 completion, Doris Reed Elementary has now become an extraordinary combination of efficient academic budget use and sophisticated design.
The construction plan to add 18 classrooms and revamp the exterior was initiated in June 2017; children and staff were appreciating the new facility by August of the following year. Along with the speedy construction schedule, the design also included some truly stand out features.
Boldly colored bump-outs and overhangs offer an eye-catching exclamation amongst the school’s near-desert setting. These dynamic structures were created with Petersen PAC-CLAD Precision Series HWP and coated in a vibrant blue hue — inspired by the bright blue of the school’s Roadrunner mascot — using Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings Fluropon®.
