Elon University Station at Mill Point

Architects at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture created a home away from home for upperclassmen at Elon University in North Carolina. This village-style housing complex is made up of 25 brightly colored buildings that house over 300 students. The exterior of each structure adorns a different color, but the same metal roofing installed on each building connects them all together. Metal Sales supplied the metal roof panels, which are all finished with Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings Fluropon® in the color Dark Bronze for the residential structures and in the color Classic Green for the Depot building in the complex. The recyclable metal roof panels and solar reflective coatings help to maximize energy efficiency by reflecting solar heat energy and reducing the amount of energy required to cool the buildings – all contributing to the townhouse-style units earning LEED for Homes Gold Certification. The work from McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, Metal Sales and Sherwin-Williams contributed to creating student residences with a community atmosphere.
