Northfield Park Creates a Bold Buzz Built to Last
Companies work hard to build and maintain a crafted brand image that showcases the fundamentals they stand for and the purpose they serve. A great example is Hard Rock, a company that has developed an iconic brand over the years emphasizing fun atmospheres across hotels, restaurants and venues, all of which support live music events and offer fast-casual dining options. As a way to continue along this path while also reaching a new audience, the company decided to venture into a new territory — gaming concepts.
To concept this new project, Hard Rock chose a design team they were familiar with, turning to architects from SOSH Architects and Richard L. Bowen & Associates. The teams worked together to seamlessly transition Hard Rock’s current brand aesthetic into a never-before-built casino under the Hard Rock name. They partnered with general contractor Gilbane to make sure all aspects were in place prior to beginning construction, and relied upon metal panel installer A.C. Dellovade, Inc. once plans were underway.

Aside from overall building plans, great attention was paid to the curb appeal of the structure. Vivid lighting and bold colors were a theme the design team emphasized both on the interior and exterior of the building. Not only did these features correspond with the visuals of many other Hard Rock locations across the globe, but also furthered their desire to attract visitors to the casino who were hoping for a fun night out and place to let loose.
Architectural coatings provided by Sherwin-Williams showcased the building’s sleek metal façade, which was composed of a number of different CENTRIA metal panel systems. Concept Series Concealed Fasteners Panels, Profile Series Exposed Fastener Panels,IW Series Concealed Fasteners and MCM panels were finished in a duo of Fluropon® and Fluropon® Classic II in complementing colors of Surrey Beige, Copper and Rust.
The two different coatings were chosen primarily because of their different finishes, as parts of the building benefited from the extra shine and sparkle included in Fluropon Classic II’s formulation. Its pearlescent appearance is perfect when added depth and dimension is desired. Furthermore, it, along with the entire Fluropon family, boasts superior performance and resistance to weathering agents. All of Sherwin-Williams Fluropon coatings offer durability and long-lasting color retention, which made it an easy first choice for the entertainment venue.
The 155,000 square-foot standalone facility was built adjacent to Northfield Park’s grandstand to expand upon the area’s current entertainment options. Features of the first-ever Rocksino include a gaming floor filled with 2,300 slot machines, a 2,000-seat music hall, plus great dining options including a buffet, steakhouse and bistro. Completed in 2012, the Hard Rock Rocksino is thriving. Able to boast that the birthplace of rock n’ roll is right in their backyard, the casino welcomes everyone into a space filled with energy and enthusiasm — supported by the vibrant colors of Sherwin-Williams coating that comprise its dynamic exterior construction.
