Lone Star College

The Lone Star College in the Houston metropolitan area plays an important role in the community. It is both a vital education resource and the anchor point of a planned 50-acre development envisioned to include office space, retail and a community amphitheater. Designers at IBI Group took on the project knowing the design of the new satellite East Aldine Center would set an essential aesthetic precedent for those coming projects.

With rough, varying cast stone transitioning to crisp, smooth metal panels, the contrasting materials establish a unique and sophisticated look for future development. The IBI team operated using Petersen cladding for all the metal work. Three different panel styles were used, all of which were 22-gauge steel coated in Fluropon® from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings in a Copper Penny hue.  Aluminum Highline S1 panels were used to create an inviting emblemed entrance, also coated with Fluropon® in the college’s signature red.

With the Lone Star College finished, public opinion has been nothing less than an uproar of positivity. The new development is successfully creating further buzz and inspiration for the upcoming developments in the surrounding area.
