SLO The Rock Brewery & Taproom

SLO Brew carries a lot of history since its establishment in 1988 as the first brewpub on the Central Coast since prohibition. The brewery continued its legacy with a new brewhouse and taproom restaurant that opened in 2017. Instead of blending in with the surrounding modern buildings in the office park, architects at Steven D. Pults AIA and Associates designed the newest SLO Brew structure to have its own identity with a rustic aesthetic.

SLO The Rock Brewery & Taproom is a multi-purpose space, split into three sections: brewery and restaurant in the center; gymnastic studio and event space on the left; and a laboratory and storage space for the brewery on the right. The exterior of the 25,000 square-foot space is clad in corrugated Corten and T2630 wall panels from Metal Sales, which are finished in Ash Grey and Old Zinc Grey Fluropon® colors from Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings. The colors help indicate the separate spaces of the structure and mimic the appearance of a giant rock on the facility grounds, for which SLO “The Rock” Brewery is named after.
