Sherwin-Williams Garners Top Honors in PaintSquare Prestige Awards

CLEVELAND, OHIO (November 17, 2020) - Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine won two important awards in this year’s PaintSquare Prestige Awards program – Top Innovation and Top Product – for new coatings that enable faster applications, reduce costs and improve durability.

The Top Innovation: Coatings award went to Nova-Plate® 360 Tank Lining, a game-changing new product that greatly reduces the amount of time required to apply interior linings to steel tanks and vessels for protection against aggressive chemicals.

This award is given to a new technology that has benefited contractors who apply the product; is different from other products on the market; and has been proven in real-world applications.

The Top Product: Coatings for Concrete award went to Dura-Plate® 6000 Reinforced Epoxy Lining, a new high-solids lining for concrete and steel in severe wastewater service environments. It provides long-term life expectancy for structures, is efficient to apply, and allows for fast returns to service.

This award is given to the top vote-getter among readers of PaintSquare Press and JPCL, which are official publications of SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.

Nova-Plate 360 – Top Innovation: Coatings

Nova-Plate 360 Tank Lining enables asset owners and coatings applicators not only to increase application speed, but also minimize asset downtime. The high-solids, flake-reinforced, novolac-based tank lining features single-leg spraying (along with plural airless spray capabilities), as well as the option to include Optically Activated Pigments (OAP) to enhance application success and streamline tank inspections, resulting in return-to-service times as fast as 24 hours. Once in the field, Nova-Plate 360 tank lining delivers unparalleled chemical resistance and performance. The product is also PTFE-enhanced, which eases tank cleaning processes and reduces the amount of time assets are out of service.

Nova-Plate 360 tank lining is designed to protect the interiors of steel tanks, particularly from high temperatures and high pressures found in oil and gas processing applications, as well as in railcar asset interiors.

Dura-Plate 6000 – Top Product: Coatings for Concrete

Dura-Plate 6000 is a 100% solids, high-build, high-strength, reinforced epoxy lining. The durable lining material offers asset owners and applicators a variety of time and cost efficiencies due to its fast return-to-service times and the option for single-leg application. It is long lasting because of its extremely low permeability and excellent chemical resistance.

Dura-Plate 6000 reinforced epoxy lining provides high film build characteristics and a variety of other properties to deliver easier, more cost-effective installations compared to other fiber- or microfiber-filled products. Reinforced with glass flakes, the material can be applied more than 125 mils thick in a single spray, potentially reducing the need for additional coats. The product’s ability to be sprayed using a single leg application eliminates the expenses of renting a generator and using a plural pump operator. Providing additional cost savings potential, Dura-Plate 6000 has a long pot life, helping applicators reduce waste material, as well as a 21-day extended recoat window, which helps applicators reduce missed recoats. In addition, the lining does not require a glaze coat like other reinforced products.
